Hi! I’m Becca.
Nice to meet you! I’m a writer, behavioral psychology enthusiast, and of course a proud horse girl. I grew up and currently live in Davis, CA, but have also resided in Lisbon and Los Angeles. I rode as a child, took a long break, and returned to the sport in 2020 (one of my best decisions to date!) I purchased my first horse, Ginger, in 2021, while working as a barn manager. The privilege of living out that horse-mom dream is not something I take for granted!
Like all the best animals, Ginger has not been easy. I bought her as a riding horse, but she has grown well outside that definition—challenging what I thought I knew about bad behavior, fear, and trauma in horses. I dove deep into learning about equine body language and LIMA training. Really understanding your horse can be scary; often we uncover issues we thought didn’t exist, or are forced to reckon with our own trauma. But for those of us whose horses are unhappy physically or mentally, behavior consultation can be a huge turning point in the journey to a healthy, confident and content equine partner.
If your horse is demonstrating unsafe or simply undesirable behavior, if you are interested in learning more about positive reinforcement training, or if you are simply searching for another avenue through which you can support your horse—I would love to talk with you!
